Our key work priorities for 2025 continue to be framed under four key work areas, which cover:

Positively influence pending legislative, regulatory and policy change

  • Retain majority pharmacist ownership and effective control provisions and address key opportunities (e.g., pharmacist prescribing) and challenges (e.g., Section 29 medicines) as part of the Medical Products Bill.
  • Support HNZ’s development of a nationwide contracting policy for accessing a community pharmacy contract.
  • Further address 12-month prescription duration policy proposal impacts if this remains an active government policy consideration.

Address pressing sector advocacy issues

  • Advance development and implementation of a sustainable funding model to maintain access to essential dispensing services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive community pharmacy workforce sustainability plan.
  • Progress development and implementation of a sustainable supply chain funding model.

Continuously improve our core business-as usual activity

  • Deliver leading community pharmacy representation via ongoing engagement with members, key stakeholders, official advisors and government decision-makers.
  • Improve standard ICPSA service pricing, terms and conditions.
  • Enable a structured approach towards full scope of practice (e.g., minor health conditions).

Ensure the Guild remains fit for purpose and relevant to our membership

  • Progressively increase our value proposition to members.
  • Refresh and reregister the Guild’s Constitution.
  • Maintain the ongoing financial viability of all Guild and PSL activities.

We will keep our members updated as we progress these work priorities.
