The CPLF exists for community pharmacy organisation leaders who have a common interest in working together to support and advance community pharmacy interests across New Zealand. CPLF membership comprises the leaders from national community pharmacy representative organisations, together with leaders from local community pharmacy groups, and leaders from the Pharmaceutical Society.

CPLF’s role enables key actions to be progressed on common priorities that exist across national and local community pharmacy settings. There are many current matters of common interest across CPLF members. These include:

  • Expanding the range of publicly funded community pharmacy services to improve timely patient access to services, focused on delivery of the government’s health targets.
  • Comprehensive workforce planning and actions that address pressing community pharmacy workforce challenges to enable delivery on our sector’s vital and growing role.
  • Assessing the proposed role of new meso-level organisations (similar to PHOs) in our health system for improving responsiveness to meeting local health needs.

CPLF leaders recognise there are a range of opportunities and challenges for community pharmacy to deliver better value for money, more timely access for patients and improve health outcomes. To do this, there is a vital need to address systemic issues that currently exist across community pharmacy.

Through working together, CPLF leaders can best support delivery of leading community pharmacy representation at all levels throughout the health system – nationally and locally. CPLF’s actions will be focused on positively influencing desired health system changes, through compelling evidence-based advice and effective engagement with key stakeholders, official advisors and government decision-makers.

The Guild looks forward to our role in facilitating CPLF to deliver the best possible outcomes for community pharmacy.
